For five years the Citizens for a Brisbane High School has sought to bring a charter high school to the district. During this time we have found the JUHSD to be very open and honest, in spite of their concerns about the budgetary impact of another high school. Please keep this in mind as we work through the charter approval process. The high school district has successfully educated generations of students, and we want to work with them to educate future generations.

While we are one step closer to realizing our vision of a 400 student college-prep high school, there are many things that must done before the doors of a new school open. If we fail in any of these things, then the school will not open.

One task is finding a suitable, safe school structure in the district. We are working with Summit on this now. If you have any ideas for a building or location, please let me know.

Another task will be collecting signatures in support of the school charter. This effort is expected to start in mid-May and end by the first of June. We cannot start this early, so please be prepared for a short and intense campaign to collect signatures, one parent per child, from families within the JUHSD. If you can help collect signatures, please reply to this email.

We expect a charter petition with your signature to be submitted in June 2012, and for the first class to be in the Fall of 2013.

I am so grateful that you previously took the time to sign a petition. Without your effort, we would not have been chosen for this new school.

As we enter the critical phase of charter approval, we will need your help in signing more petitions, speaking at public meetings, and spreading the news about Summit.
